How Can Brands Reduce Activewear Manufacturing Costs Without Changing Critical Requirements?

Update Time:2026/10/23

Start with your target cost and the requirements that cannot change. Compare fabric, construction, branding, and packaging options against the same specification, then reapprove any change that could affect fit, performance, minimum quantities, or delivery timing.

Lock the requirements that must stay unchanged

  • Approved pattern, block, and grading that define fit and silhouette
  • Coverage, support, and compression levels agreed for the intended activity
  • Performance, testing, and fabric-weight requirements already written into the Tech Pack
  • Branded artwork, logo placement, and any regulatory or certification scope

Compare the adjustable variables

  • Fabric composition, weight, and construction within the agreed performance band
  • Color count and the dyeing or print method
  • Construction and finishing steps that do not alter fit or function
  • Trims, labels, and packaging specification

Put unit price, fees, MOQ, and timing side by side

For each alternative, compare the same specification on the variables that move your landed cost:

This table is a template. The live record must use your anonymized figures and keep the approved version on file.

Re-sample or retest, then keep the approved version

Any change that could affect fit, performance, minimum quantities, or delivery timing should be re-checked before bulk production:

  • Make or revise the relevant sample or test for the changed variable
  • Record the cost impact, verification result, and who approved it
  • Mark the previous version as superseded and retain the approved reference
  • Reconfirm the quote, one-time fees, MOQ, and lead time against the new plan

Send your cost target for review

Send your target cost, Tech Pack, and non-negotiable requirements for review. We outline which variables can be compared, the engineering assessment scope we can provide, and the evidence each alternative would need before approval.
