How Should a Built-In Shelf Bra Be Specified for a Custom Activewear Tank?

Update Time:2026/10/8

ACTIVEWEAR TANK SUPPORT

Develop the shelf bra and outer tank as one support system.

A built-in shelf bra should be developed as part of the complete activewear tank. Its lining, underband, straps, attachment, and outer fabric all affect support, fit, and comfort during the intended activity.

Define the internal support

  • Intended support level and shelf-bra coverage
  • Lining or power-mesh construction
  • Underband width and elastic specification
  • Cup or removable-pad option
  • Pad-pocket opening where applicable

Fit the whole tank

  • Strap width and configuration
  • Neckline and armhole coverage
  • Attachment method to the outer tank
  • Size-range and grading requirements
  • Coverage, elastic tension, strap proportions, and pad dimensions across representative sizes

Check support during the intended activity

During sampling, check underband stability, bust coverage, strap pressure, pad position, neckline security, opacity, breathing comfort, and range of motion. Test the complete tank during its intended use, such as yoga, Pilates, gym training, or light running; each activity may require a different support level.

The shelf bra should be approved together with the outer tank. At Call The STYLE, both layers can be developed and reviewed across representative sizes before bulk production.
