What Should Be Specified for Removable Bra Pads in Custom Sports Bras?

Update Time:2026/9/14

CUSTOM SPORTS BRA DEVELOPMENT

Specify removable bra pads as part of the sports bra design.

Removable bra pads should not be treated as a generic accessory. Their shape, material, size, coverage, pocket construction, and washing behavior should be defined with the sports bra’s fit, support level, fabric, lining, and intended use.

Pad specification

  • Pad shape and dimensions
  • Thickness and foam density
  • Pad material and surface finish
  • Molded or flat construction
  • Perforation where required
  • Left/right orientation, if applicable

Bra and pocket specification

  • Pad size by garment size
  • Coverage and position inside the bra
  • Pocket opening size and location
  • Edge finish and overall flexibility
  • Care and washing requirements

Confirm performance during sampling

Check that the pads remain centered during movement, provide the intended coverage, and stay comfortable without visible edges or pressure points. Review them after washing as well, including whether they shift, fold, curl, retain moisture, or become difficult to reposition.

Test fit and coverage during realistic movement.

Assess wash performance and ease of repositioning.

Review pad dimensions across the graded size range.

For extended size ranges, one pad size may not suit every bra size. Pad dimensions and coverage should be reviewed together with the graded garment before bulk production.

At Call The STYLE, bra pads can be evaluated together with sports bra fit, support level, fabric, lining, and pocket construction during technical development and sampling.
