What Retail Compliance Requirements Should Be Confirmed Before Activewear Production?

Update Time:2026/9/10
RETAIL READINESS

Before bulk activewear production begins, confirm the labeling, packaging, testing, barcode, and delivery requirements for the destination market and sales channel.

These requirements should be incorporated into the approved Tech Pack, packaging specification, purchase order, and production instructions rather than being handled only at the final packing stage.

Product and retail identification

  • Fiber-content and care-label information
  • Country-of-origin, size, and brand labels
  • SKU, UPC, EAN, or GTIN requirements
  • Barcode format and placement
  • Hangtags and retail price tickets
  • Product testing or compliance documents

Packaging and delivery requirements

  • Polybag size, sealing, and warning requirements
  • Carton quantity and assortment
  • Carton marks and shipping labels
  • Retailer routing instructions
  • Required delivery appointments or documents

Destination and channel rules can differ

For U.S. sales, most textile and wool products must disclose fiber content, country of origin, and the identity of a responsible business. Covered textile wearing apparel also requires care instructions. When GS1 identifiers are used, each sellable size or color variation requires its own GTIN.

At Call The STYLE, confirmed retail requirements can be incorporated into the Tech Pack, packaging specification, purchase order, and production instructions before bulk manufacturing. Final legal and retailer-specific requirements should be provided or confirmed by the brand, importer, or relevant sales channel.
